New York, December 22, 2011—OneVoice youth leaders came together in November to launch an online donation drive on the GlobalGiving site to fund the recruitment and training of 200 Israeli and Palestinian youths in grassroots activism.
From the start, the youth leaders set their sights on surpassing the challenge by raising $10,000. More than 60 supporters have already contributed more than $6,000.
"The training OneVoice holds for Palestinian youth equips us with the skills to effect change in our society," said Mohammad Asideh, senior OneVoice youth activist. "It creates agents of change before creating the change itself."
OneVoice strives to break the status quo of extremism, fatalism and political lethargy by building a human infrastructure capable of mobilizing the public to resolve the conflict. 4,500 Israeli and Palestinian youth activists form the backbone of the movement and hold the key for change.
